Domagkpark

The grounds of the former Funkkaserne military base have been transformed into a new residential area. This site has been an artist hotspot, refugee centre, party location and police station, and is now a new residential district with about 2,000 flats, 500 workplaces, a variety of social and cultural facilities and a large park at the centre of the 24-hectare-large site. With around 100 studios and a spacious exhibition hall, the municipal studio house „Städtisches Atelierhaus“ in the east of the quarter is one of the largest in Europe. Domagkpark is the first project in Munich to be developed by a consortium of housing cooperatives (Baugenossenschaften), joint building ventures (Baugemeinschaften) and municipal housing companies (städtische Wohnbaugesellschaften). The consortium was founded at an early stage to jointly develop a lively living environment.
