Messestadt Riem
Where airplanes once took off until 1992, one of Europe’s largest urban development projects has taken shape. Messestadt Riem now provides homes for 18,000 residents and 12,000 jobs across 560 hectares. The variety of different building typologies, the young and mixed community of residents and the excellent access to green spaces have transformed Messestadt Riem into a lively and highly valued neighborhood. In recent years, innovative cooperative housing projects in the eastern part of the district have helped to foster a strong sense of community among its residents.
