Converting an office building from the 1970s into a low-tech building? As a mountain sports and nature conservation organization, the DAV Bundesgeschäftsstelle (Federal Office of the German Alpine Club) wanted to make a strong statement with the architecture of its federal office in Munich and deliberately decided against a new building. Based on a design by hiendl_schineis, Element A Architekten took on the refurbishment, extension and addition of storeys to the former Langenscheidt publishing administration building. Today, the building is surrounded by an additional wooden façade, floor-to-ceiling glazing and openable windows.
